July 29-30 in Progressive Nashville

It’s a fairly quiet week for activist libs in Music City, but what’s happening is choice. Get out and about and work toward getting informed, supporting progressive candidates, and making a difference. And don’t forget: Early Voting in the Metro Nashville and Davidson County election is still underway.

  • Come out to keep the Nashville nonprofit dedicated to improving well-being through sustainable living going strong. A fundraiser for Urban Green Lab takes place Wednesday, and it needs you. Your contribution will help the lab bring sustainability education to local schools and inspire the next generation to live in a way that will keep our planet healthy. The event takes place at Jackalope Brewery, 701 8th Ave. S, at 5:30 pm.
  • West End United Methodist Church holds its weekly community dinner and movie/lecture series, A Place at the Table, Wednesday evening. The evening starts at 5 pm with a farm table, which is followed at 6 pm with a buffet supper catered by Martha Stamps Catering. At 6:45 pm, the church will present a film. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for kids. To make your reservation, call the church by 11:30 am Wednesday at 615-983-8850.  West End United is at 2200 West End Ave. , 37203, and the entrance is on 23rd Avenue.
  • Giving a thought to Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders‘ progressive campaign for the White House? On July 29, Sanders live video viewing parties will be held across the nation — including in Nashville — to bring interested people together to hear the Vermont senator’s vision and why he just may be the leftist’s choice for president in 2016. There are a choice of local sites to forge fellowship with folks and see the candidate’s video address: Check out the various locations and choose the one that best suits you; most events begin at around 6 pm.

It’s time again to raise a pint with your fellow commie, lib, pinko, peacenik, and/or progressive pals. Nashville’s Drinking Liberally returns for another Thursday of community and discussion. Head to the Flying Saucer, 111 10th Ave. S #310, 37203, at 6:30 pm. Look or the second rail table in the main room of the bar. For more info, contact nashville@drinkingliberally.org.
