For 12 straight years, West End United Methodist Church has helped to sponsor and build a Habitat for Humanity home, and that time of year is here again. The church’s fundraising effort for the worthy cause in underway. The goal is to raise $30,000 to cover half of the cost to construct a home for a deserving family in need of affordable housing. The church also recruits volunteers to help with building. Which means YOUR help is needed.
There are two ways to get busy for the effort: Make a financial contribution to the Habitat project. Or (and you certainly can do both) volunteer to be part of the construction crew. Sign up in the church’s Reed Hall on Sundays or register online here. Build days are scheduled for Sept. 12, 19, 20, and 26, and Oct. 3 and 4.
Do this: I have a good bit of experience swinging hammers for Habitat. You will feel great helping to give a piece of the American dream to a family in need.
