This is news that should excite every progress ive Nashville resident: Workers Dignity is spearheading an effort to bring community radio to the Music City’s FM radio dial.
For two years, the labor rights nonprofit has worked to obtain one of the precious few low-power FM FCC licenses made available thanks to the Prometheus project. It was successful in its attempt and is moving forward to create a member-run radio station that will bring freeform music and progressive-issue information and talk shows to the airwaves by early 2016.
That means fundraising: Tonight, the group launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $10,000 (or more) toward getting a transmitter and the additional equipment needed for broadcasting.
