GDPR 2016 On-Air LGBT Pride Fest Sunday 10 AM CT
Written by tessatowne on June 23, 2016
It’s that time again! For the 17th year in a row and its second in Nashville, Grateful Dread Public Radio proudly brings Pride to the radio.
Our On-Air LGBT Pride Fest takes place Sunday, June 26 from 10 am through 7 pm. (Better yet, come early: At 9 am, FOOTLIGHT PARADE features Broadway classics, and this week’s edition includes a song from LGBT community supporter Lin-Manuel Miranda’s blockbuster musical “Hamilton.”) If you can’t get out to this weekend’s Nashville Pride, or if you plan to attend on Saturday only, join us for this celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community.
This year’s event is dedicated to those lost in the June 12 anti-gay massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla. We ask you to join the effort to raise funds to benefit those victimized in this horrific hate crime: Donations are being collected through a GoFundMe campaign, and proceeds will go to Equality Florida. Please contribute. The organization is working with the National Center for Victims of Crime to distribute the contributions via its National Compassion Fund. The money raised will go to support every single victim of the Pulse shooting. This includes victims’ families, survivors, and those in the club who may not have suffered physical injury but are in need of support. For information regarding how funds will be dispersed directly to the victims’ families and survivors, please visit http://www.eqfl.org/transparent (English) or http://www.eqfl.org/Transparencia (Español).
