A hearty congrats to the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, a longtime member of the GDPR family: The grassroots music show, which is based in Lexington, Ky., will be featured in a short piece on NBC prior to the running of this year’s Kentucky Derby.

The good word comes from WoodSongs itself:

We just got a note from the NBC TV Network in NYC. The feature package on WoodSongs will air Saturday 3:20 pm EDT [2:20 pm Central] during the pre-DERBY broadcast. It’s not a long feature and we don’t want to over-sell this, but 45 seconds in front of an estimated network audience of 65 million viewers on a major TV day isn’t bad for a folk and bluegrass show that started out in a small room with 10 people and one radio station airing it. We are very proud of our affiliate family and just wanted to pass this along and share the moment with you.

And this affiliate is proud of WoodSongs, host Michael Johnathon, and the entire team of volunteers. Congratulations, and we hope the nation enjoys its glimpse into a fabulous – we daresay essential — arts program. We’ll be tuning in (wearing a magnificent chapeau and hope you will too!
